Alpine Queen Mikaela Shiffrin said goodbye to the deserved break in top form and still aggressive. The world champion confidently left her competitors behind at the World Cup finals in Soldeu and once again improved her impressive record in the final giant slalom.

For the 28-year-old it was the 88th success since her World Cup debut 12 years ago. With the 138th place on the podium, Shiffrin also drew level with Austria’s ex-ski star Marcel Hirscher on Sunday (19.3.23). Shiffrin had already cleared the big crystal ball for the overall and the small one for the giant slalom and slalom World Cup.

Shiffrin continues to perform in the extra class

With start number one, the American had presented the competition with a best time that could not be beaten. Shiffrin confidently made the decision ahead of Canada’s Valerie Grenier and Italy’s Marta Bassino.

In the final, the Norwegian Thea Louise Stjernesund made it onto the podium ahead of Grenier. Victory went to Mikaela Shiffrin, albeit narrowly.
