Netizens stormed Ferrari for showing edited photos of F1 cars at the Prophet’s Mosque

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Ferrari received backlash on social media for its edited post showing their Formula car in the courtyard of the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The edited image is an advertisement for a Ferrari show in Jeddah, The Ferrari F1 Team will compete at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on Monday 20 March 2023, early morning WIB.

Recently, the Nabawi Mosque has gone viral after the Ferrari Team put up a F1 Car poster with the Nabawi Mosque as a background and reaped condemnation from netizens around the world.



Instead of showing an image of the venue for the event, the image shows the holiest site for Muslims, namely the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. Needless to say, the upload drew widespread criticism on social media.

According to globalvillagespace.com, the Italian racing car manufacturer was criticized for disrespecting Islamic holy sites. It is unclear whether Ferrari knows the sanctity of the Prophet’s Mosque. A social media user first shared the picture on Twitter which garnered a lot of attention and reactions from netizens all over the world.

A Twitter user with the account @f1amani, for example, criticized the Ferrari team’s actions. “This is actually crazy. Not only are you editing in a car to the holiest place in the world for Muslims, you are also using it to advertise a race in a completely different city.”

The tweet from @f1amani immediately invited support from other netizens. “This is what happens when the team has no ethnic minority employees. Finally doing nonsense like this” wrote the account @rayxkilli. Later the post was removed by the Ferrari Team.
