NBA suspends Ja Morant for 8 games after showing up with a firearm

The NBA announced Wednesday that it has suspended star point guard Ja Morant for a total of eight challenges after he pulled out a weapon in an Instagram live video early on March 4.

In any case, ESPN clarified that the sanction of the member of the last two All-Star Games already includes the six challenges that he has been absent after the controversy, so he will only lose two more games, remaining available for this Monday when his Memphis Grizzlies receive to the Dallas Mavericks.

It must be remembered that Ja Morant’s suspension came in the first instance from the Grizzlies themselves, despite the fact that the point guard had been leading his franchise to the second best record in the hostile West; which still hasn’t changed. In fact, Memphis has accumulated three straight wins and is 3-2 since it did not have the MVP candidate for the regular round in the NBA.

Throughout this contest, the 23-year-old is averaging 27.1 points per game, along with 8.2 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals.

Of course, the NBA confirmed that Ja Morant, who earns 12.1 million dollars this season, will stop receiving the money from the eight sanctioned games.
