This is also Napoli’s first home defeat in all competitions this season.
Napoli coach, Luciano Spalletti, praised his former Inter Milan squad, Matias Vecino, who was the cause of Il Partenopei’s defeat.
The leaders of the Serie A standings, Napoli, were humiliated by Lazio 1-0 in the opening match day 25th Serie A at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, Saturday (4/3) early morning WIB.
The winning goal for the visitors was scored by Matias Vecino with a beautiful long-range shot in the 67th minute.
This is Napoli’s second defeat in Serie A this season after being beaten by Inter Milan with an identical score of 1-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza last January.
We didn’t have much possession in the ball but when we had a chance – we tried stay calm on the ball and play it mostly through the middle.

“I try to anticipate the Biancoceleste game. They are very compact and always move together,” said Spalletti after the game.
“We made the choice in the worst way ever. But I saw a good attitude, the right application and desire, and these are the basics,” he added.
The defeat for Spalletti’s squad came at the hands of a player he knew well, Vecino was his team-mate when he coached Inter Milan.
“Lazio defended well, they were lucky because Victor Osimhen’s header didn’t go in and we were naive about Vecino’s goal.” said Spalletti.
“But I have to congratulate Vecino, he is a professional and a great footballer. Did he betray me? I don’t want to answer that, everyone has to do their job without thinking about the relationship that existed before.”
Napoli are still firmly at the top of the standings with a collection of 65 points. Meanwhile, Lazio moved up to second with 48 points.
