The Moroccan national team has now also defeated football superpower Brazil. In a friendly match in Tangier, it surprisingly won 2-1.

Morocco, including Ziyech, Mazraoui and Amrabat in the base, took the lead after half an hour of football via Sofiane Boufal. The Paris-born footballer scored right in front of goal from a spin after being handed the ball by Bilal El Khannous.

After the break, Morocco was able to defend the lead well, until the Brazilians equalized more than 20 minutes before the end thanks to a simple goal from Casemiro.

Substitute Abdelhamid Sabiri finally scored the winning goal in the 79th minute with a hard swipe against the underside of the crossbar. After this, Brazil, which is number one in the FIFA world rankings, could do nothing in return.

The exhibition match against the Brazilians was the first major showdown after last winter’s successful World Cup. Morocco became the first African team ever to reach the semi-finals, after great victories against Portugal, Spain and Belgium, among others.
