There has been no Winter Games since 2019 in Quebec. The slow return to the normal calendar in sporting events finally leads to the great pleasures of the athletes from the North Shore selected to participate in the 56e Quebec Games from March 3 to 11.

Thirty-four athletes from the North Shore will cross to the south shore to participate in the first block of competition at the Quebec Games in Rivière-du-Loup, notably in women’s hockey, figure skating and gymnastics. In the second block, the Côte-Nord delegation will be twice as large with men’s curling, ringette, badminton, judo and cross-country skiing.

Experience before the medal

Difficult to assess the disciplines where the Côte-Nord has a chance of winning medals, since few provincial competitions have taken place since the start of the COVID pandemic in March 2020, explains the chef de mission of the Côte-Nord delegation to the Quebec Games Philippe Lebreux.

“Whatever the results, the Quebec Games allow young people to live an unforgettable sporting and social experience,” recalls the Côte-Nord head of mission.
