Misolic survives first qualifying round at Indian Wells

Filip Misolic took the first step in the main competition of the Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells on Monday (local time). The 21-year-old Styrian prevailed in the first qualifying round against the Portuguese Joao Sousa after a hard fight and a playing time of more than two and a half hours 7:6 (10/8) 2:6 6:3.

Misolic now has to deal with Cristian Garin to get into the main draw. The number eight seeded Chilean defeated Dominic Thiem in the first round in Santiago last week. Thiem is in the main competition thanks to a wildcard and meets Frenchman Adrian Mannarino at the start.
