Michael Pacholleck has lost his last fight – Judo Verband Berlin eV

On March 17th, 2023, our 1st chairman Michael Pacholleck lost his last fight after a long and serious illness.

Michael was born in Berlin in 1960 and started judo at the age of 9. From 1969 to 1980 he was a member of the 1st Judo Club Märkisches Viertel, where he took on his first position as a trainer as a teenager.

Michael Pacholleck also taught his high school teacher the sport of judo, paving the way for the judo club at the Thomas-Mann high school (today Thomas-Mann high school). Over time, the Judo-AG became a sports course for the upper school. Many of the young people trained by Michael, including some Bundesliga fighters, attended this course/AG and were able to easily improve their Abitur grades. Judo is still practiced at the TMG today.

From 1980 to 1998 he ran the O-Tori sports school together with Hans-Joachim Stolp. It was here that Michael met his wife Melanie.

In 1999 he rejoined the 1st Judo Club Märkisches Viertel and was quickly elected 1st chairman. From the very beginning, Michael dedicated himself to supporting children and young people. In 2018 he was awarded 4th Dan by the JVB.

Michael always stood up for his athletes and tried to make everything possible for them.

With this passion he led the club to the end.

The burial will take place on April 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Hedwig III Cemetery in Berlin Reinickendorf.
