Mavs star cleared of technical foul

Dallas Mavericks star Luca Doncic avoided a one-game suspension, for now, after the NBA rescinded his 16th technical foul on Monday.

The league decision qualifies Doncic to play Monday night at Indiana to help the Mavericks try to stay alive in the Western Conference playoff race.

Dallas enters the game against the Pacers in 11th place in the West, a place outside the play-in tournament, a year after reaching the conference finals.

The Mavs are in the midst of a four-game losing streak, including losses to the lowly Charlotte Hornets. Doncic received a technical foul that was called off in the second of those losses on Sunday.

The technique was called with 7:51 to play in the third quarter of a 110-104 loss when Doncic claimed a no call foul after missing a shot on an attempt to attack the basket.

Squad boss Kevin Scott said in his match report that Doncic used “profanity directed at the officials in protest of the failure to call a foul that was judged correctly in the post-game video review.”

It’s the second time Doncic has been cleared of a technical foul this season.
