In Madagascar, the last week of July 2023, the African Championship, Cadets and Juniors categories will be held. 18 Malagasy judokas will compete.

According to the president of UAJ (Union Africaine de Judo), Randrianasoloniaiko Siteny, at the end of last February, it is confirmed that Madagascar will host the African Championship in Cadets and Juniors category. The date has not yet been determined, but it is known that it will be held at the end of July, according to the media from the sports administration in Africa. 9 male and 9 female activists will participate for Malagasy, as our host country. That is, 2 judokas in each category at most, according to the explanation of the technical commission in the Malagasy Judo Federation. Many conditions are required of these activists to represent the Malagasy people. This includes the technical level and level during the Madagascar championship, Cadets and Juniors category. The national competition will be held from April 14 to 16 to select 18 eligible athletes.
Athletes will be judged not only on their results during the national competition, but also on their diligence and skills during training, which they will do in their club. On the other hand, the conduct and diligence of the athletes will be considered. The National Technical Director of the FMJ announced that there will be a “test match” before the release of the final list of athletes who will compete in the African Championship, which will be held here in Madagascar.
