Luiss conquers Corato at the end of a great fight

A fight with no holds barred, but in the end it’s there Louis to go out with arms raised: al PalaLosito Of Corato ends 74 to 67 for the travelers who pocket another two points and hoist themselves first in the standings alone (given the defeat of Ruvo in Cassino yesterday).

A very expensive competition from an athletic point of view, with Corato having two towers like Boev and Infante who lay down the law in the painting. But it is coach Paccariè’s area, used for a long time in the two central quarters of the match, which gives Luiss the handful of points of advantage necessary to administer the other twenty minutes, with Corato who at most reaches one possession behind.

Corato starts strong and the ex of the match Infante puts all the first five points of the contest, first with a triple and then with a nice offensive rebound. Boev was fouled by Jovovic with an extra free throw, bringing the hosts ahead by two possessions (8-3). Luiss has time to rearrange her ideas and gets into the game with long-range shots from Pasqualin and Fallucca which sanction the overtaking midway through the first quarter. Great rhythm and beatings in defense, Perotti grabs a nice rebound in attack favoring Pasqualin’s basket. We travel on the edge of balance, but a mini set by the hosts leads the teams to the first break at 20-15.

Luiss puts the arrow in the fourteenth minute with Allodi’s offensive rebound, and consequent basket. It is the area of the chapters that makes the difference, Corato struggles tremendously to attack the defense deployed and goes into blackout. Legnini takes advantage of it on a lazy defense of the landlords (22-30), the winger always scores an ignorant triple on the counterattack which establishes +11 five minutes from the break. Fallucca is also unleashed with six points in a row of pure class, but if Corato’s defense goes behind the blocks, the Roman winger is a sentence (28-39 in the 18th minute). With a momentum of pride, the hosts open a 6-0 run which allows them to get five lengths down at the interval.

The second half opens with cheerful defenses: triple from Murri, and one from Infante on a foul by Jovovic and triple from Allodi for +8 Luiss. The guests play, run, have fun: Pasqualin serves two assists first for Murri, then for Allodi. When he smells the blood it’s Matteo Fallucca’s turn who, surgically, from behind the arc, shoots the triple to make it 41-54. Luiss lifts her foot off the accelerator and is punished repeatedly by Trunic, Idiaru and Battaglia who in an amen reduce the disadvantage to just three full possessions.

In the fourth period, Luiss didn’t score for the first three minutes, setting off the red alert on the bench for coach Paccariè: Fallucca gave oxygen with two free throws and then Pasqualin set the score at 58-69 from three. Corato tries to come back relying on shots from outside but the percentages drop and there is no time for a comeback.

With this victory Luiss maintains the gap on its direct pursuers such as Roseto and Sant’Antimo, both victorious, but detaches Ruvo defeated in Cassino and you can enjoy a week on the summit alone.
