Liberty Media also looks to Tottenham

Not just the ability to enter the Liverpool as a minority shareholder. These days the Tottenham announced a revolutionary new 15-year partnership with Formula 1, sparking speculation about a possible takeover of the club by the US giant that has controlled the circus since 2016: Liberty Media.

The group, which is valued at $21 billion and owns the Atlanta Braves Major League Baseball team and F1, will build the first kart track under a football stadium as part of the deal with the Spurs. But different sources – writes the English newspaper The Times – have suggested that this may simply be Liberty’s first step towards being able to add a Premier League club to its sporting portfolio.

Moreover, the Premier League remains a major target for international investment, with Manchester United in the midst of a potential sale and Liverpool also looking for new partners.

Returning to Tottenham, Liberty will install London’s longest indoor karting track under the South Stand of Spurs’ stadium to add new entertainment options to a ground that has hosted boxing, NFL and rugby matches, as well as concerts by artists including which Lady Gaga eh Guns N’ Roses. The tracks, separate for adults and juniors, have been accredited by the National Karting Association, making them potential venues for national championship races.

Tottenham Hotspur stadium has a seating capacity of 62,850. Opened in April 2019, the facility cost £1 billion. Spurs say the new partnership with F1 includes apprenticeship and career opportunities for local youngsters and also aims to promote diversity within the motorsport sector.
