Lamar Jackson tries the final card and exposes that he already asked the Ravens for a trade

In the midst of the limbo that is, weeks passing by and nothing happens, feijoada, Lamar Jackson tried a card to try to regain some control of the situation. On his social networks, the Ravens quarterback and MVP of the 2019 season announced that he asked for a trade to Baltimore on March 2. According to him, the exchange was requested because the team did not reach the value (which he thinks is worth).

“First I want to thank you all for the love and support you’ve consistently shown me,” Lamar wrote on twitter. “All of you are amazing and I appreciate you so much. I want you not to believe everything you read about me. Let me personally answer your questions about my future plans. On March 2nd, I requested a trade from the Ravens, as the team was not interested in paying my fee. Everyone who is close to me or knew me knows my love of football and my dream of helping a team win the Super Bowl. You guys are amazing, but I had to make a business decision for the best of my family and my best. No matter how far I go, I will remain close to my fans across the nation of Baltimore and the entire State of Maryland. You will see me again”.

Lamar Jackson’s intention is quite clear: stop being an object in this whole story and regain some control over the situation. By saying he asked for a trade, Jackson signals two things. First, that he doesn’t want to go back to Baltimore — or at least that he’s trying to take away the Ravens’ bargaining power. Afterwards, he puts himself in the media again, trying to revive the story so that, perhaps, some team is interested in the exchange – given that by burning bridges, it may be that Baltimore does not match the potential proposal.

It is worth highlighting how complicated the situation is for Lamar. He was given the exclusive franchise tag, which entitles the Ravens to match any contract bid another team makes — and in doing so, would also have to send in two first-round picks. With the “bridges” broken with the Ravens, maybe now some team will take the risk.

That’s another point. Panthers and Raiders were possibilities and have already “arranged”. The Raiders, with Jimmy Garoppolo. The Panthers moved up in the Draft in the trade with Chicago and will certainly draft a quarterback with the first overall pick. The options dwindle for Lamar Jackson, and with it, so does his bargain.

The telenovela BaiLamar Comigo is dragging on and so it should continue – maybe until training camp, don’t be surprised if that happens. At least renewed for a second season, today it was.
