Podcast #81: Our dream posters for the playoffs and an update on Ja Morant

– It was a foregone conclusion. Articles and podcasts devoted to the superb dynamics of the Knicks had multiplied in recent days. As always in this case, the team saw its winning streak come to an abrupt end. After 9 straight victories, New York lost at home against Charlotte, one of the dunces of the NBA.

The Knicks, however, led by 16 points at the break and were heading for a 10/10. Whether because of accumulated fatigue (they played two overtimes against Boston 48 hours earlier) or mental relaxation, Tom Thibodeau’s players completely let go in the second half. The Oubre-Rozier-Hayward trio (75 pts) did what they wanted and no one in NY could stop the spiral and the 62-39 over the last two quarters.

This is the first loss of Josh Hart with his new team, but it obviously should not question everything that has been good lately because of this setback.

– The Nets took advantage of the windfall to get back to a win over the Knicks. Brooklyn disposed of Houston without shaking too much and with a Mikal Bridges (30 pts) still on his cloud. The former Suns winger has scored three straight games with at least 30 points, this time adding 5 assists, 2 blocks and an interception.

– Even without Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday, the Bucks are formidable and capable of beating just about anyone. Milwaukee won their 18th game in 19 games by winning in Orlando tonight. To make up for the absence of the two innkeepers, Brook Lopez (26 pts), Chris Middleton ( 24 pts), Jevon Carter (24 pts), Bobby Portis (16 pts, 11 rebounds) and Jae Crowder (15 pts) took turns to knock out the Magic with insolent skill (59%).

We have the feeling that the Bucks will no longer be joined in the general classification, as their dynamic is impressive.

– The Warriors are still hopeless on the outside and we still saw them scramble out of their bases tonight against OKC. Stephen Curry’s 40 points weren’t enough to erase what sometimes looks like a surprising lack of chemistry and concentration, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (33 pts) and Josh Giddeyauthor of a small recital and the seventh triple-double of his career (17 points, 17 assists, 11 rebounds) reveled.

Frustration was in order for Golden State, like that nervous poo from Draymond Greenexasperated at not being served by Jordan Poole and more concentrated enough to avoid losing the ball in stride.

Ousmane Dieng made another good appearance for the Thunder with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals in 19 minutes.

– Even without James Harden and after a timid start, the Sixers took over the Wolves in Minneapolis without too much difficulty to put a little more pressure on Boston in the standings. Philadelphia unsurprisingly relied on Joel Embiid to sink the racket of the locals, the Cameroonian finishing with 39 points on the clock, helped by Tyrese Maxey (27 pts).

This five-match road trip proved to be very positive for Doc Rivers’ side, who won four of their five matches. On the Wolves side, Rudy Gobert did not have the expected impact to slow Embiid and finished the match with 6 points and 9 rebounds at 2/6.

Anthony Davis ended up with bloody noses and the Crypto.com Arena audience shaking for a few seconds. It was just a small scare and a misplaced nudge from David Roddy. Nothing that could prevent “AD” and the Lakers from continuing their “qualifying for the play-in” operation against the plucked Grizzlies. Davis had 30 points, 22 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks to guide LA to a 7th win in 10 games and 9th place in the West.

The Lakers arguably couldn’t have dominated Memphis without the more visually than statistically impressive impact ofAustin Reavesin the oven and in the mill and amazing energy and accuracy (17 pts, 7 pds, 4 rbds, 1 stl).

– Dallas had a home ban against the Jazz, who traveled to Texas without Walker Kessler or Jordan Clarkson. Things weren’t that easy and the Mavs sweated it out, but the gist is there. The heatstroke of Kyrie Irving in the 4th quarter (he scored 18 of his 33 points and a clutch shot 2 minutes from the end) and an 8-0 run to reverse the trend around money time allowed Dallas to get out of the bee-eater. Luka Doncic added 29 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, with chemistry still developing with Kyrie.

Thanks to this success and the defeat of the Warriors, the operation is perfect for Dallas, which temporarily takes 5th place in the West.

– If the Wizards qualify for the playoffs, or even for the play-in, for a small victory, we will have to remember this basket at Daniel Gafford’s buzzer last night in Detroit, after having been more lively (and having it kindly pushed) than Livers.
