Kurt Svoboda is keeping a low profile regarding the ÖFB presidential office

Vienna President Kurt Svoboda is being traded as a possible successor to Gerhard Milletich as President of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB).

When asked whether he was interested in this position or whether he could rule out taking on the position, the UNIQA board member replied at a press event in Vienna on Monday: “I will answer the question when the ÖFB is ready.” Milletich resigned on January 31, Johann Gartner is in office on an interim basis.

The successor should be announced in early summer

A successor is likely to be elected at an extraordinary general meeting in May or June. Svoboda has recently been more present in the media. According to him, there is a very clear reason that is not related to the ÖFB issue.

“One is the media activity, which is and was associated with UNIQA and myself. That is very closely related to the work at Vienna. The strategy that UNIQA is also pursuing with Vienna, to make them known again accordingly , confirm that we want to continue on the path we have taken,” said Svoboda.

“Everything else is up to the ÖFB, which runs a process and then at some point comes to a decision in which I am not involved. Please understand that I cannot provide any information on this,” he said.
