“I’m definitely fit again,” said the 25-year-old Swiss on Wednesday in the “Sky” interview. In the end it was the decision of coach Edin Terzic, “but I’m fit again and I’m available”.

Due to thigh problems, Kobel had missed BVB’s last four competitive games, with substitute keeper Alexander Meyer replacing him. The recently injured Swiss, who also missed the international matches of the Confederates, has been the main support at BVB so far.

With a kicker average score of 2.64, he is currently the best player in the Bundesliga (the top players in the league…) ahead of Thomas Müller (2.77) and Kingsley Coman (2.80).

The front runner will go into the away game “with a broad chest”, said Kobel: “We deserve it. We have shown in the last few weeks that we have the quality and we were rewarded with first place.”

A “big step” beckons in Munich

The Westphalians won nine out of ten league games in the new year, only shared the points in the Revierderby at Schalke 04 – and pushed past Bayern in the table. “It will definitely be a very, very tough fight over the weekend.” A win in Munich would “definitely be a big step towards the championship”.
