Karate Open in Tuscany. Even Bitonto smiles: the very young Alessandro Padula bronze medal in the Under 14 category – Sport – A window always open on Bitonto

Even in the distant Tuscany, the Bitontini know how to assert themselves. Here I am.

It happened a few days ago, because at the karate Open organized by Italian federation of judo, wrestling, karate and martial arts (Fijlkam) and held at the “PalaGolfo” of Follonica, Bitonto returned with a beautiful bronze medal. Beautiful because the difficulty of the competition has to be considered – it was national in nature and saw the teams engaged classes U21, Juniores, Cadets and U14 – and the very high quality of the participants. Despite everything, then, the “Karate club”, the forge of talent led by Luca Modesto, proves to be almost always on track.

The under 14 was on the third step of the podium Alexander Padula, in the 55 kg category, who won 5-4 against his opponent in the medal contest. For the very young karateka the defeat in the semifinal was fatal (but only on points and by referee judgement), after having overcome the first three matches (1-0; 3-0; 5-0). Nothing to do, however, for the other members of the large Bitontina team that arrived in the province of Grosseto. Ivan Bonasia, for example, made a perfect journey up to the quarterfinals where, however, he was beaten 2-0 and was not lucky even with the repechage; same fate for Naomi Acquavivaout at first meeting, as well as Angelica Suriano.
