Judo. Regional cadets: surprises and confirmations in Ploërmel – Judo

The best Bretons were absent, as they had already qualified for the French championships. But the places were disputed for the podium. The favorites were present, and on the women’s side, a few surprises spiced up the day.

Marius Terrien, in – 73 kg, moved up the category for a team qualification. Well it took him, since he won the title. “I usually fight in – 66 kg, but I was injured at the Ploërmel tournament, and I couldn’t play the ranking. I resumed training only three weeks ago, and I preferred to play the team card.

The Diener Surprise

The young Clara Diener created a surprise by winning in the – 48 kg, overcoming the favorite Lucie Boidin on a choke key in the final. A junior first year, she didn’t think she could qualify against older, more experienced girls. “I had some tough fights. I am happy to have created the surprise. I have already competed in the French championship in minimal, but I will go above all to gain experience and have fun”. Seeded under 52 kg, Calypso Fleury was surprised in the semi-final by Bérénice Calvez, who then lost her final against Flore Rivoal.

From now on, the Bretons are expected at the French championships, where hopes are allowed given the good results of the year. Franck Robert, federal technical adviser for Brittany, is ambitious. “It would be a disappointment not to shine. We hope that it will be productive in view of the national medals gleaned from the tournaments”.
