Jacque Vaughn is not happy with the energy of the Nets

Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn has mentioned on several occasions throughout the season that he likes his teams to play with a lot of energy and intensity. Specifically, the coach has always preached his desire for the players to make an effort in each play and squeeze in defense no matter how the attack is working.

In the loss (119-106) this Sunday against the Orlando Magic, the Nets were outmatched in multiple facets of the game due to their rival’s drive and physical strength. Orlando beat Brooklyn in rebounding, assists, field goal accuracy, fast-break points and in the paint. It seemed that every time the Magic had possession, Vaughn’s men couldn’t match his pace.

“It’s a question of being able to sustain the energy,” declared the head coach, according to the outlet. Yahoo Sports. «In the first quarter we were able to hold on even though our energy wasn’t the best. we were fine. But to sustain the pace over the course of an entire night, play the way we want to play, defend the way we want to defend and play the pace we want to play, we’ve just lacked that energy.”

Although a qualitative drop was expected after the departures of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Nets have lost steam in the last two weeks. Despite having lost six of their last seven games, they still hold sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Of course, matched in record (40-35) with Miami Heat, seventh.
