Italian challenge in the NBA between Fontecchio and Banchero: Simo beats Paolo

Tonight at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, Paolo Banchero’s Orlando Magic hosted Simone Fontecchio’s Utah Jazz.

The match was won by the Salt Lake City franchise with an excellent Simone Fontecchio, who has now permanently entered the rotations of the Jazz: in fact in the last 5 games he has played an average of 22.4 minutes for each shoe tie, scoring 8.8 points. Good averages for someone who spent months and months watching others compete, taking the field for a couple of minutes every “Papa’s death”.

Tonight Fontecchio didn’t start in the quintet but he made some anyway 17 in 21 minutes and 39 seconds. Paolo Banchero also did his thing because he wrote 26 on the scoresheet, also with 8 rebounds and 2 assistsin 33 and a half minutes on the parquet.

The excellent performance by the Italian American didn’t allow his team to take home the win, but consolidates more and more his position as likely winner of the Rookie of the Year 2022-2023.

Both teams are fighting to be among the 4 teams that will participate in the play-in. It goes without saying that Utah has a better chance than Orlando, even if the competition in the Eastern Conference is less high. A couple of hits in a row could definitely rekindle their hopes of trying to access the postseason. We hope to see both Fontecchio and Banchero in the playoffs!
