This Wednesday, representatives of the Uruguayan Football Association, Ministry of the Interior and the National Secretariat of Sport met to decide where the classic match between Peñarol and Nacional will be played of the Opening Tournament, which was set for April 2.

An agreement was reached that the Centennial Stadium has priority, for which reason Sebastián Bauzá, National Secretary of Sport, told the press at the exit of the same that “it is the ratification of what the Commission (Security) worked on ) since November with the Uruguayan Football Association and the Ministry of the Interior”.

“The Centenario Stadium is the place where sports justice can be given better, going locals and visitors. We saw a classic in summer that went very well in general terms”, he assured, and added: “First we are going to wait if it can be played at the Centenario, but if it is not possible it is because there will be news regarding works in the stadium apart from the recitals”.

He commented that “the Ministry of Sport and the government care a lot about the dream of hosting the World Cup and the works that would be carried out. So let’s wait one more week to see if we can play in the stadium or if we have to play in the team’s stadiums”.

“The most important thing has already been defined, which is that the classics have to be played at the Centenario Stadium with visiting fans. It is an issue that has been resolved and, in the case of using plan b, we know that the finals will be played at the Centenario with visiting fans”, he concluded.
