“If Mame Mbaye Niang agrees to negotiate with Ousmane Sonko…”

This March 30, justice will have to settle the dispute between Ousmane Sonko and Mame Mbaye Niang. The latter, Minister of Tourism, accuses the leader of Pastef of defamation. But before the special hearing at the Dakar Court, some are talking about a possible negotiation between Sonko and Mame Mbaye Niang to settle this problem amicably.

Asked by Sen TV, Abdoulaye Saydou Sow, Mayor of Kaffrine, Vice President of the Senegalese Football Federation and Minister of Urbanism, Housing and Public Hygiene, mentioned the possibility of seeing the two sides negotiate. But for him, this would only engage Mame Mbaye Niang, not the state.

“There are things you can’t negotiate on. Mame Mbaye Niang is a Senegalese citizen, who has his rights. If Mame Mbaye Niang agrees to negotiate with Sonko, to compromise, it is his personal responsibility. But the state cannot negotiate on a trial in place of Mbaye Niang.
