The Seattle Kraken won in overtime at Colorado Avelanche and remain in contention for a spot in the NHL playoffs.

Yanni Gourde scored the goal after 1:24 minutes to make it 3-2 for Seattle. This reinforced Seattle’s third place in the Pacific Division, while Colorado remains third in the Central Division. Only the top three in each of the four divisions will definitely make the playoffs. In addition, there are the four teams with the best points, regardless of their placement in the division – two from the East, two from the West. A total of 16 teams then play out the Stanley Cup winner.

Brandon Tanev and Alexander Wennberg also scored for Seattle. German goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer saved 21 shots against his former team. Nathan MacKinnon and Denis Malgin scored the goals for Colorado. Colorado goalkeeper Alexandar Georgiev saved 32 shots, seven alone in a three-on-five manpower game – in the end in vain. “I haven’t seen much of the web”Gourde said about Georgiev. “He’s a great goalkeeper, he saved a lot of shots.”

Devils and Knights back up their claims

The New Jersey Devils won 5-4 in overtime against the Arizona Coyotes. Switzerland’s Nico Hischier struck 23 seconds into overtime in the Devils’ fifth straight win as they cemented second place in the Metropolitan Division. Arizona remains penultimate in the Central Division.

The Vegas Knights also underscored their claim to be the Pacific Division leaders, beating the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 at the bottom of the Atlantic Division.

The Red Wings’ losing streak continues

Moritz Seider lost for the sixth time in a row with the Detroit Red Wings. The team conceded a 1:3 against the Philadelphia Flyers. As a result, Detroit, second to last in the Atlantic Division, has fewer and fewer chances of participating in the playoffs. The Flyers are second to bottom in the Metropolitan Division.
