Ho-Pin Tung saw an open and honest Verstappen documentary: “Sophie and Victoria are very honest”

Max Verstappen: Anatomy of a Champion will premiere on Viaplay on Sunday, April 2, a result of the collaboration that the Dutchman and the streaming platform announced earlier last year. Ho-Pin Tung reveals that a deeper look into the private life of the Verstappens is shown.

Two-time world champion Verstappen decided to partner with Viaplay in 2022 and from then on, the streaming service and the Formula 1 driver have been working on a number of things for the fans. One of the results of this is therefore Max Verstappen: Anatomy of a Champion, in which the Red Bull driver is followed closely in his path to the second world title in the premier class. There is also a further zoom in on the youth of the Limburger and his special bond with father Jos Verstappen.

Verstappen’s path

The three-part documentary premiered at the Royal Theater Tuschinski in Amsterdam on Wednesday and Tung was one of the spectators present in the theatre. “I really enjoyed seeing it. What I personally found very interesting is that it gives an insight into the whole road that has taken to where Max Verstappen is today and the sacrifices that not only Max but the entire family Verstappen has had to bring for this. As an outsider, you actually only see the cheering when a success is achieved. But that precedes a whole process and that is what this documentary shows,” he tells Motorsport.com” href=”https://https://en.motorsport.com/f1/news/ho-pin-tung-praises-candor-verstappens-docuserie-anatomy-of-a-champion/10450220/” target=” _blank”>Motorsport.com.

Open and honest

In addition, the stories of father Jos, mother Sophie Kumpen and sister Victoria Verstappen are also discussed, Tung says. “What I also really liked is that what you see as a viewer is very sincere. In the world of motorsport everything is often very polished, but luckily Max has always been there from the moment he came into Formula 1 remained itself and that is also clearly reflected in the documentary,” says the analyst. “But the people around him are also very open. Jos talks about the difficult times in his private life and Sophie and Victoria are very honest about how they experienced certain moments.”
