Governor Ron DeSantis wants to see Novak Djokovic play in the United States

The ATP Masters tournament is currently taking place in Indian Wells, California – but without superstar Novak Djokovic. The Serb was not granted special permission to enter the United States. Due to the lack of a Covid vaccination, Djokovic cannot enter the country regularly.

That’s why Ron DeSantis, Republican Governor of Florida, is now writing a letter to Democratic US President Joe Biden. He urged him: “It is time to put pandemic politics aside and give the American people what they want. Let him play.”

Denying the Serbs entry is “unfair, unscientific and unacceptable,” Ron DeSantis continued in the letter to Biden.

According to Reuters, Djokovic himself has applied for a special permit from the US authorities. “I’m waiting for an answer,” said the 22-time Grand Slam champion at a press conference in late February. “It’s not up to me, but I’ll know soon enough.”
