Kalaitzakis stated that they are going through a period when it is very difficult to talk about basketball due to the train accident in Greece, which caused the death of dozens of people:
“There are no words to describe this tragedy. We are all devastated. We’re all talking about this in the locker room and we’re so sorry. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and we pray for the injured. What can one say… Really, I can’t talk about basketball and sports. Human life comes first. There is nothing to say.”
