Básquet Girona travels to Bilbao tomorrow, where on Sunday morning (12.30) it will face the local team in a new day of the ACB. To assess the preview this morning, winger Pato Garino spoke, assuring that “despite some setbacks, I’m at my best physically, I’m in the right place because I have everyone’s support and trust”. Garino also wanted to be ambitious and look up: “the goal must be to enter the play-off and have the best mentality both in individual and collective work.” Girona, with a record of 8-14, is on track to stay and still does not want to have said the last word in the fight to contest the phase for the title.

The Argentinian player explained that “the improvement is due to the mental change I have made. I was injured in December and I stopped obsessing, trying to enjoy only the moment. Without pressure neither for results nor for performance. In the last two years I have trained more alone than with my teams, due to injuries, and now I feel like I can give my best version again, and that’s what I’m in. Regarding the Bilbao match, he said that “it is a great opportunity, in the duel of the first round in Fontajau we presented a great image, it was one of the first times that the team understood what philosophy we had to have to win”.

The technician, Aíto García Reneses, also spoke at Fontajau. He limited himself to saying that this week “the sensations have been a little irregular, and what we will have to do in Bilbao is to try to play as many minutes as possible with good intensity“. Asked if it is still possible to reach the play-off, he assured that “if we win all the games, surely we will”, and then, without irony, he pointed out that “I prefer not to think about this or the on the contrary, that we are in decline, I simply want to keep improving game by game.”
