In the last four years, five sports disciplines from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico have managed to harvest medals during their participation in the National Universiade and the great unknown will be how many they will be able to obtain this year in Hermosillo Sonora?
These disciplines are; Associated Fights, Athletics, Judo, Table tennis and boxing, in the last edition all of them achieved 20 medals; there were four gold medals, in table tennis, boxing and athletics; five silver, in boxing and athletics, and 11 bronze, in judo, athletics, boxing, table tennis and university wrestling.
Remember that athletics achieved 9 medals in Chihuahua last year; two of gold, three of silver and four of bronze, maintaining the level, but he has neglected the long-distance disciplines and the 4×400 relay.
In relation to team sports, the Autonomous State of Mexico, battle to get your ticket to the national stage with the exception of Tochito Bandera Femenil. In the case of Men’s Association Soccer, it has achieved medals but in its local capacity, except for the 2012 Veracruz Universiade where it achieved a two-time championship.
The sport requires continuity and this year it will be reflected in women’s football with Carlos Estrada who has raised the level, so it would not be strange for the Auriverde players to make history in the 2023 Universiade.
Undoubtedly, the objective is great; First, they will have to win more than 20 medals and then be in the top 10 of the general medal table, (not scoring), so the XXV edition of the most important university sports festival in the country will mark the success or failure of the UAEMex in the sport.
