FC Bayern’s success against Paris becomes a plea for the timeless values of football. When the people of Munich mix their modern choreographies with the house traditions, they are capable of a lot.

When Thomas Tuchel was still training Paris Saint-Germain, he made the same observation almost every day. When he started the popular “Rondo” during training – a small, intensive circle game – he knew in advance which small groups would come together. The world stars Mbappé, Neymar and Di Maria were very strict in their selection, they didn’t think many teammates were suitable to participate in the practice of their fine art (except for a casual reservist named Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who they thought was great). The Uruguayan Cavani, who they considered technically below their dignity, was not even allowed to take part.
