The Dryfing startup, owned by the Basque investment fund Easo Ventures and selected by Lanzadera, the accelerator promoted by Juan Roig in Valencia, has presented its URA machine, which cleans, dries and disinfects neoprene suits after sports activities. The public presentation of the machine took place at the Bilbao Surf Film Festival held on February 25 on the Itsasmuseum esplanade.

Naia Espinosa, CEO of Dryfing, affirms: “As a surfer I knew about the problem of wetsuits, but it was while working as a surf instructor both in the Cantabrian and in the Mediterranean that I understood that there was an unresolved need. Schools spend a lot of space, time and effort managing wetsuits, yet the customer experience is spoiled by sharing wet and dirty suits.”

Born at the end of 2019, this Basque startup has created a machine capable of washing, disinfecting and drying up to 10 neoprene suits, turning into a reality the aspiration of not having to put on wet and smelly neoprene when surfing, diving, sailing, canyoning and up to 25 outdoor sports in which suits made of this material are used.

The sector came out stronger after the confinements, but schools and centers still continue to share used, wet and non-disinfected neoprene suits among clients. The disruptive and eco-sustainable technology of the Dryfing URA machines is aimed at revolutionizing the management of wetsuits in companies in the water sports sector worldwide. The dryfing objectives for 2023 after the presentation of URA include opening the Spanish, French and Portuguese markets.
