Daniil Medvedev wins Russian final in Dubai against Andrey Rublev

Daniil Medvedev also crowned his impressive run in Dubai. With his 6:2, 6:2 final victory over fellow countryman Andrey Rublev, the 27-year-old won his third tournament in a row within three weeks.

After the successes in Rotterdam and Doha, it was Medvedev’s 18th title on the ATP tour.

“It’s amazing. At the beginning of the year it didn’t go perfectly for me,” said the former world number one: “If you don’t win in tennis, then you doubt it. Now I just have a better feeling.”

In the semifinals on Friday, Medvedev caused the first defeat of Grand Slam record winner Novak Djokovic in 2023. The Serb had previously won 20 games in a row. Defending champion Rublev knocked out Olympic champion Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) in the semifinals.
