The Philadelphia Flyers may be on the verge of a major cleanup.

At least that’s what Renaud Lavoie said during his segment with Jean-Charles Lajoie on Wednesday.

“We hear about the problems inside the Flyers organization. I am told that John Tortorella takes up a lot of space, perhaps to the benefit of Chuck Fletcher who is the general manager. Everything is dysfunctional right now in this organization.”

According to the journalist from the TVA Sports channel, the aborted transaction which was to bring James van Riemsdyk to the Detroit Red Wings would be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

“The fact that Chuck Fletcher was unable to trade James van Riemsdyk on Friday caused a lot of murmuring. There is a lot of discontent. Rumors now say that everyone is going to be kicked out on the second floor. This will not be the case for John Tortorella.

Renaud Lavoie even suggests that the name of Quebecer Daniel Brière is high on the list of candidates to become the new general manager of the Flyers.

“Chuck Fletcher’s successor could well be Daniel Brière. It is said that he would not be fired. Regardless of whether he is named CEO or not, he would remain in the position with the organization. He was in the process with the Canadians. I know he was greatly appreciated by Jeff Gorton.”
