Court Rejects Barcelona Appeal, Gavi Can Go Free

Barcelona

Bad news for Barcelona regarding Gavi’s contract status. Gavi can be free to leave because Los Cules’ appeal was rejected.

As rumored. LaLiga rejected the registration of Gavi’s new contract at Barcelona, which is valid until 2026. LaLiga argued that the registration would cost Barcelona beyond the permissible limits.

Barcelona however appealed to the court, and on January 31 it was decided that LaLiga must grant Gavi’s registration. That’s why his jersey number changed from 30 to 6, because he was considered a first team player.

So, in the contract there is a clause which says that Gavi can leave Barcelona for free if the club doesn’t register him as a main player until June 30, 2023.

Unfortunately, the appeal was rejected in early March. With the rejection from the Barcelona court, Gavi returned to academy player status and his number became 30 again.

Barcelona have indeed not given up and will submit another appeal document so that Gavi’s contract will still be approved. Apart from Gavi’s contract, there is also Ronald Araujo, which was extended last April

LaLiga as of Tuesday (21/3) informed The Athletic that the court had decided in final that Barcelona’s appeal was rejected because it was past the deadline. In the near future, Gavi will be revoked from the status of a player in the first team.

As a result, Gavi could be approached by any team this summer because of his free contract status. Barcelona can also be confused seven times to improve its financial condition so that one of its best young players is not left behind.

Meanwhile, Gavi admits that he does not want to think about his future and is focused on helping Barcelona win LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.
