Clashes A1 between ultras of Rome and Naples: 33 searches

A maxi blitz by the forces of order, the result of the investigation into the clashes that in January had seen the protagonists of the ultra groups of Rome and Naples on the A1 motorway, at the Badia al Pino motorway service station: a nightmare afternoon that paralyzed and terrified the main artery of our country. The action of the agents took place simultaneously in Arezzo, Naples and Rome: a person was reached in his home in Arezzo, an ultras from Arezzo believed to be linked to the Romanist Fedayeen. Another 12 searches reached Napoli fans, identified as participants in those incidents. But the most massive amount of interventions concerned Rome, where the agents entered the homes of 20 people, all involved in some form in the January episode of violence.

What had happened

In those clashes many were injured, few had resorted to treatment, fleeing to avoid arrest. The coordinated assaults had led the police to identify 190 people, arrest four of them – later released from prison – and created kilometer-long queues on the highway. An afternoon of madness which was then followed by sanctions: two months without travel for both sets of fans.
