Does that really fit together?

What does Thomas Tuchel have that Julian Nagelsmann doesn’t have? More experience: The Swabian from Krumbach, with his 49 years, has been around 14 years longer than the Upper Bavarian from Landsberg am Lech. He has already seen Paris and London, not just Sinsheim and Leipzig. Now he should become the new upper Bavarian in German football because FC Bayern is dissatisfied with his coach Nagelsmann.

Are you finally getting together two people who flirted with each other five years ago? At that time, the Munich adorned themselves a little too long, Thomas Tuchel signed with PSG. He then ended up at Chelsea – both clubs are doing worse without him. He had already proven his suitability in Mainz and at Borussia Dortmund. Then the highlight in 2021: Victory in the Champions League with the Londoners and world coach of the year.

In Munich he is needed as an encourager. The fear of the record champions after falling from the top of the table after ten years of losing the title subscription in the Bundesliga seems great. And in the Champions League, Manchester City is waiting! The confessions of the club management per Nagelsmann after the recent victories in the round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain are forgotten.

However, Tuchel could also quickly become a new problem for FC Bayern – because he has a lot in common with his predecessor. The two prototypes of the new generation of coaches, who have not had a great playing career to show for themselves, represent their views in a demanding and self-confident manner. The “Mia san mia” people from Munich have always had a problem with that, including Nagelsmann. With Tuchel, it was always a reason for separation in Dortmund, Paris and London.

No coach is bigger than a club, and no footballer either, of course. In order to be able to successfully implement his game idea, the leading employee should be given the greatest possible decision-making power. As under Nagelsmann, this also leads to dissatisfied stars – because Bayern only want the best. As Tuchel once said so beautifully: “If you get into the ring with Bayern, you can’t expect to come out without black eyes.”
