Important addition to the roster of UnipolSai Fortitudo Bologna which has secured the services, for 2023, of the community winger Shakir Albert from BBC Grosseto, where he played an excellent season, contributing with his hits to bring the Maremma team back to the top of Italian baseball and hitting the playoffs. A native of Curaçao and citizen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Albert trained in the Minor League in the Dodgers franchise and was brought to Italy in 2021 by Godo, proposing himself in an excellent debut season in the top Italian baseball league. Bologna expects a solid contribution from him to the white and blue lineup and an important contribution also at a defensive level, being able to cover each of the three positions on the outfield.

Born in Willemstad on December 24, 1996, Shakir Achmed Girigorie Albert, 183 cm. for 83 kg, hits and shoots right. Barely 17, he signed a professional contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and went to the Rookie League, in the Dominican Summer League, batting with an average of .275 in 61 games. In the following two seasons he moved to the Arizona League, again at rookie level, where he played 88 games overall, hitting .223 and .269. In 2017, after 15 games in which he hits .298, with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs and 13 RBI, he lands in Single A with the Great Lakes Loons, where he hits .231 in the 4 games he is on the scoresheet.

In 2021 Godo manages to bring him to Italy and Albert immediately puts himself in great evidence in the Serie A championship, in which the Romagnans qualify for the poule scudetto. The numbers at the end of the season are excellent: 25 games played, batting average .320, arrivals on base .378, slugging average .650, the result of 10 doubles, a triple and 7 home runs (fifth overall). For him also 22 runs scored, 23 RBI and no defensive errors.

In 2022 he moved to Grosseto, forming a respectable external department, together with teammates such as the former white-blues Ambrosino and Loardi, as well as Chelli. In a total of 45 games played, the Antillean fielder hits with an average of .284, with .365 on base and .484 slugging average, the result of 17 doubles, a triple and 4 home runs, with 33 runs scored and 23 RBI.
