Spanish Masters (Super 300) in Madrid
Already forfeited at the Swiss Open last week, in order to allow the duo to recharge the batteries and treat a few minor sores, Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue (N.6 in the world) will also skip the Spanish Masters, another Super tournament 300.
Indeed, the 24-year-old Breton has abdominal discomfort that requires adapting training in recent days. Even if they were seeded N.2 in the mixed table (the N.1 being the 4th in the world, the Thais Puavaranukroh – Taerattanachai), the vice-champions of Europe 2022 will not take risks, before others important events: the Orleans Masters (Super 300 – April 4 to 9), or the Sudirman Cup (mixed team world championship in China – May 14 to 21).
Xuefei Qi en qualifications
The Rostrenoise Xuefei Qi (N.42) will therefore be the only Breton badiste in the running, from Tuesday, in Spain. In the first qualifying round, the three-time French champion will meet the Indian Ashmita Chaliha (N.52), whom she beat 21-16, 12-21, 21-17 in their only face-to-face, at the Netherlands in 2019.
