Sweden recovered on Monday from the previous defeat against Belgium in the European Championship qualifying series. Partly due to a nice goal from AZ player Jesper Karlsson, the Scandinavians were 5-0 too strong for Azerbaijan. Ajax player Dusan Tadic won 0-2 against Montenegro with Serbia.
Substitute Karlsson accounted for Sweden’s 4-0 with a free kick just before the end. It was the first international goal for the AZ attacker. Emil Forsberg, Viktor Gyökeres, Bahlul Mustafazada (own goal) and Anthony Elanga also ended up on the score sheet. Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who came in against Belgium (0-3) on Friday, was missing due to an injury.
Austria is only the leader in group F. The team of national coach Ralf Rangnick fell behind against Estonia, but was able to repair the damage through Florian Kainz and Michael Gregoritsch: 2-1. PSV right back Phillip Mwene played the entire match with Austria. Feyenoord player Gernot Trauner was missing due to an injury.
Belgium did not play in this group on Monday. The formation of national coach Domenico Tedesco started the qualifying series on Friday with a convincing 0-3 win over Sweden. Belgium will play an exhibition match against Germany on Tuesday, after which the qualifying match against Austria awaits on June 17.

Vlahovic helps Serbia win
Serbia still leads the dance in group G. Tadic and associates won 0-2 on a visit to Montenegro through two late goals from Dusan Vlahovic.
Due to the earlier 2-0 win over Lithuania, Serbia now has six points from two matches. The team of national coach Dragan Stojkovic will resume the qualifying series on June 20 with an away match against Bulgaria.
Hungary took the first points of this qualifying series by easily finishing with Bulgaria. Bálint Vécsei, Dominik Szoboszlai and Martin Ádám already made the difference in the first half: 3-0. AZ player Milos Kerkez had a basic place with the home team.
