“Avis Rapla” causes another loss to “Valmiera” and is in the LAT-EST “play-off” – Basketball – Sportacentrs.com

• A place in the playoffs of the combined Latvian-Estonian basketball league was secured today by the “Avis Rapla” team, which convincingly beat “Valmiera Glass/ViA” on its home court. The Vidzeme team suffered its 22nd loss of the season.

• The Estonian club celebrated its 17th victory tonight and thus secured the sixth place in the tournament table. This also means that ninth-placed Pärnu can no longer achieve this.

• The Rapla team especially dominated in the third quarter, scoring 33 points in Valmiera’s basket, while they allowed 19 in theirs.

• Most of the points (64) of Rapla’s basketball players were scored from the penalty area. Also, the home team scored 33 points using the mistakes made by Valmiera. There were a lot of them – 23 in total.

• The only statistical indicator in which the basketball players of Valmiera were better tonight – in the accuracy of long shots. The visitors were able to hit nine of 24 shots, while Rapla’s players had six long shots from 21 attempts.

• Attack leader Tyler Cheese was the top scorer for the winners with 24 points, who also had seven assists. Another Legionnaire, Obrad Tomic, added 20 points and ten rebounds.

• Edgars Kaufmanis, who scored 20 points, while Tervel Bek had 17 points, showed a productive performance in Valmiera.

• The next game in the tournament will be played by the team coached by Oskars Virša, whose coaching team has been joined by Kaspars Vecvagars, who ended his career as a basketball player, on Tuesday, when they will host Ventspili.
