ATP Miami: These stars are chasing champion Carlos Alcaraz – Hubert Hurkacz and Stefanos Tsitsipas in focus
Hubert Hurkacz couldn’t believe it. It took the Pole an incredible three hours and 31 minutes to bag the third-round ticket against Thanasi Kokkinakis. He had pulled his head out of the noose several times and fended off a total of five match balls.

Hurkacz, who relies on the manufacturer Yonex when choosing his racket, can continue to hope for his second title in Miami.

In 2021 he celebrated his first individual Masters title in Florida. A year later, Hurkacz shared the doubles title with John Isner. The 26-year-old can therefore confidently call himself a Miami expert.

This is one of the reasons why Hurkacz, in eighth place, is one of the favorites to win the tournament behind defending champion Carlos Alcaraz (1) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (2).

Alcaraz makes history in Miami

With Casper Ruud, who also swears by Yonex when choosing a racket, one of the big names left early. The Norwegian lost to Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in three sets 6:3, 4:6, 4:6.

Other candidates who have the potential to get involved in the fight for the crown are Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev.

History shows that Miami is a good place for surprise champions. There have been six different winners in the past six years. Among them Alcaraz, who was number 16 in the world last year and at just 18 years old became the youngest winner in tournament history.

Or Hurkacz, who wants to win his second Masters title in the Sunshine State.
