Atlético de Madrid resoundingly beat Valencia, whom they thrashed 3-0 at the Metropolitano stadium with goals from Antoine Griezmann, in the first half, and from Yannick Carrasco and Thomas Lemar, in the second, in a splendid match for the Atletico team, who devoured their opponent from start to finish to consolidate their third position and insist on second, five points behind Real Madrid, waiting for the ‘clásico’.

Valencia, which is still out of relegation, pending the result this day of Getafe, had no response against Atlético, neither before nor after, beyond the goal disallowed by Hugo Duro after half an hour due to a previous clear foul on Memphis Depay in the start of the play. In the review on the monitor, referee Munuera Montero detected the offense and annulled the goal.
