Asturias gains strength in Europe: few beat Armando García, “Mandi”, and his nephew Ramón

The Canguese wrestlers, as part of the Spanish team, raised the flag of the Asturian autonomous community high in the Super Match-2023, held last weekend in the town of Rezzato (Lombardy), in Italy, an event organized by the Italian Braccio di Ferri Federations (SBFI), attended by 351 athletes representing 22 countries.

Armando García Rama, “Mandi”, from Cangué won three medals in the aforementioned event: two gold in the master’s category, in the 70-kilogram category, after winning with both his right and left-handed arms; as well as another silver medal, this one in the senior category, this time with the left arm.

For his part, Ramón Cuenco García, nephew of “Mandi”, won the silver medal in the junior category (under 21 years of age), in more than 80 kilograms, with his left arm; while, with his right arm, he had to settle for seventh position. In the computation by national teams, Spain was third -seven golds, five silvers and two bronzes-, only surpassed by Italy -champion- and Croatia.
