‘AS Monaco makes drastic decision about Clement’

Philippe Clement has been with AS Monaco since January 2022. The Principality hasn’t exactly been the most fun environment for trainers in recent years, but the Belgian is holding up very well. According to the French sports newspaper The team AS Monaco has already made a decision about Clement’s future.

AS Monaco is in a good third place in the ranking and is still fighting for second place behind the unapproachable PSG. The AS Monaco board is very satisfied with Clement’s work and wants to keep him on board as a trainer next season. The Monegasken want to involve Clement even more in the sporting policy.

STRONG RESULTS

Paul Mitchell will leave the club after the season. The sporting director is linked to Liverpool and Clement would be involved in the search for a new sporting boss. AS Monaco can be very satisfied with Clement’s performance. The former trainer of KRC Genk, Club Brugge and Waasland-Beveren has coached the club in 61 games to date, winning 33 times, losing 15 times and drawing AS Monaco 13 times.

Clement is on track to become the longest-serving coach since Leonardo Jardim (233 games). Niko Kovac tapped at 74 games, but he will pass that one. Roberto Moreno and Thierry Henry lasted less long, just like Marco Simone. Monaco hopes to finish in the top two this year, which would provide certainty about participation in the Champions League.
