Anderlecht withdraws its complaint in the Toffolo case

It’s been a month since the winter transfer window ended and Anderlecht had the unpleasant surprise of seeing Nottingham Forest refuse the loan of left-back Harry Toffolo at the last moment.

The RSCA hastened to file a complaint with FIFA and the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), on the pretext that the English club had committed itself in writing before withdrawing, but the Brussels club finally decided to reverse according to our colleagues from the Nieuwsblad.

FIFA never commented on this case because the transfer had not been officially registered. And on the CAS side, the procedure turned out to be heavier than expected. It would have taken weeks before Toffolo could be registered as an Anderlecht player and he would never have been able to join the list of registered players for the Conference League. Toffolo should have been heard during the procedure, which would have put him at odds with his current employer. In short, complicated procedures for a simple six-month loan, even if it were to be accompanied by a purchase option.

Yet confident in the solidity of its case, Anderlecht therefore preferred to withdraw its complaint. Meanwhile, Toffolo is still on the Nottingham Forrest bench despite two brief appearances against Manchester City and West Ham in the last two Premier League days. As a reminder, his club had chosen to cancel his loan because of the injury of Omar Richards. But the absence of the latter did not ultimately change anything in Toffolo’s situation.

Anderlecht pushes hard to transfer Toffolo and files a complaint against Nottingham with FIFA!
