An inglorious end. The legendary gunner failed as a coach

Klose’s men ended the regular season with a 1-1 draw with champions Salzburg on Sunday, but they are last in the table after 22 rounds. Without Klose, Altach will fight to stay in the league in a group of six, from which only the worst team will be relegated.

The now 44-year-old Klose took charge of the team last summer. He previously worked as an assistant with the German national team, then coached Bayern Munich’s youth team and was one of Hansi Flick’s assistants with Bayern’s A team. The 2014 World Champion played 137 matches for the national team and scored 71 goals, including a record 15 in four World Cups.
