On October 8, 2021, Sophia Thomalla and Alexander Zverev surprised the Instagram world: the two announced their relationship with a kiss selfie from the beach. Now the couple is giving an intimate insight into their love life for the first time – in the new RTL + documentary “Zverev – The Unfinished”.

The 33-year-old and the professional tennis player show private couple photos of themselves, take the viewers into their everyday life with Zvere’s family and have themselves filmed swimming and dining in Monaco. “We’ve known each other for years,” says the athlete. His girlfriend is more specific and reveals that they met through friends. When we met again in Berlin, it suddenly sparked. “It’s not a romantic story. Sometimes you talk to each other and think: ‹Yeah, something can work out.› And then it all of a sudden happens. It happened very quickly,” says Thomalla.

Sophia Thomalla can call her Alexander 24 hours a day

Their life together is not always easy, as the moderator reveals. In particular, because two strong personalities and two particularly crass life models would meet. “Alex with the incredible amount of sports he has and the continuity he has to go through again and again – and my life is anything but continuous,” says Sophia. That’s why it’s particularly important to enjoy even the simplest things together. “Because we don’t have a simple life together.”

It is particularly important to her that they can rely on each other. “He’s definitely very, very emotionally private. I don’t need a provider. I need someone I can call 24 hours and throw up. And he’s very good at it,” enthuses Thomalla.

The 33-year-old supports her boyfriend’s tennis career, regularly accompanies him to his games and was at his side when Zverev was back on the tennis court after his compulsory break due to an injury. “The injury changed me. She gave me the chance to realize that there is much more out there than tennis,” admits the athlete. And Sophia is one of them.
