Alcaraz has a “higher level” than Nadal and Djokovic

The only 19-year-old Spaniard inspires the tennis world – including the 18-time Grand Slam winner Chris Evert. The 68-year-old raves about Alcaraz in the highest tones.

«What Alcaraz does defensively, what Alcaraz does offensively. No other player combines these two aspects better than him,” Evert said in an interview with “Eurosport”. He is “a born champion” and has unshakable self-confidence and a strong psyche.

“The beauty of his game is that he has no weaknesses. The opponents don’t stand a chance unless he’s having a bad day,” adds Evert.

For the former tennis player it is therefore clear: Alcaraz has now reached the level of Djokovic and Nadal. Even more.

“I think we’re seeing a new level, a higher level of tennis,” said Evert. “You think we’ve seen the best with Novak, Roger and Rafa. But in some decades, a player who plays at an even higher level seems to emerge. I think the current decade is one of those.”

That’s why she’s really looking forward to the duels between Alcaraz and Nadal and Djokovic: “These games will be electric.” 2023 will be “the year” of Alcaraz.
