After four years, Podmol competed in Munich, where he was seriously injured

“I was a bit nervous, but somehow I didn’t experience it fundamentally. I’m glad that we did well. If someone had told me in January, after two broken vertebrae in Dakar, that I would be holding the cup from the international FMX event in March, I would have told them I guess he didn’t believe it,” Podmol said in a press release.

In Munich he started with his brother Filip, Matěj Česák and Matěj Pekárek competing on a freestyle scooter. The Czechs were just not enough for the Spanish team led by five-time world champion Maikel Meler.

Podmola broke both legs in a fall in Munich in 2019 and has had to undergo several operations since then. “I have to admit that everyone around me reminded me of it. My brother said to the microphone after his ride that it’s great that we can ride here together again. People applauded,” said the 38-year-old competitor, who had not competed in a major freestyle event for four years. He presented himself at only a few exhibitions.

That is why Podmol was nervous. “But in the end I enjoyed it a lot. My ride was without a difficult bodyvariate or forward somersault. I did more old-school tricks. I was thrilled to do it cleanly,” he said. The main character of the team was his brother Filip, who finished third in the competition for the best trick.
