A municipality in Valladolid becomes the national badminton venue this weekend

The Tordesillas City Council and the Tordesillas Badminton Club have presented this Thursday, March 2, the XVIII Villa del Tratado Tournament. A test of the Youth Master sub15 and 19 that will be held in the pavilion of the Valladolid municipality this coming weekend. The competition will start on Saturday, March 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. It will continue on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., when it ends.

The Provincial deputy and councilor, Francisco Javier González Vega, has expressed his enthusiasm for this tournament. He has stated that it is one of the “most important” championships at the national level in the lower categories and has received recognition from the Spanish Badminton Federation. He has highlighted the presence of the “best rackets in the country” in the tournament. “We always defend grassroots sport, without it the elite would not exist,” he says.

On the other hand, the mayor of the town, Miguel Ángel Oliveira, has highlighted the importance of the event since it makes it “the focus of attention” during these two days. Likewise, he has indicated that this tournament is going to be added to Queen’s Day. A fact that represents an “excellent tourist offer” for the municipality and that contributes to “consolidate its position” as a benchmark in the province.

Councilor Jesús Carro has highlighted the importance of providing Tordesillas with top-level competitions. All this with the aim of “supporting” the local sport and continuing its promotion in all categories.

This eighteenth edition will bring together the best young badminton players in the country. A tournament that brings together 195 professionals from all over Spain, although there are a large number that are in reserve; specifically, 70.
