The youth group badminton tournament, in which masters of sports for everyday life competed with each other, ended in great success in Daegu. It was the first large-scale badminton tournament held in Daegu this year.
According to the Daegu City Badminton Association, the 3rd KBB Sports Tangtang Chicken Cup Daegu City Youth Group Badminton Tournament was held at the Daegu Athletics Promotion Center for two days on the 18th and 19th of last month.
Hosted by the Daegu City Badminton Association and supervised by the Daegu City Badminton Association Youth Department, this tournament attracted 530 participating teams, realizing the popularity of badminton. As a nationwide competition, there were many participants from distant places such as the metropolitan area and Jeju Island.
Badminton club members showed off their skills by participating in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles according to age and grade for two days. In particular, as this event was the first competition held in the region after the transition to the Corona 19 endemic (endemic) phase, participants were able to fully enjoy the charm of comfortable indoor exercise.
Kim Hae-gyeong (45), who won runner-up in the women’s doubles category on the day, said, “It is rewarding to practice steadily with my partner while looking only at this competition for a month. I really want to win the next competition.” It was difficult to enjoy it, but after a long time, I was sweating profusely.”
The organizers provided KBB badminton bags to the 1st place team, badminton rackets to the 2nd place, and socks to the 3rd place.
An official from the Daegu City Badminton Association explained, “Since this is the first tournament of the year, we have been preparing for it by conducting rehearsals and simulations since two months ago.”
Starting from this event, various badminton competitions will be held in Daegu.
Choi Seung-tak, head of the Daegu City Badminton Association, said, “The Korea Badminton Association long-term national competition will be held in Daegu on the 25th and 26th, so I hope you will participate at that time as well.”
